Vitamix Reconditioned vs New
Something I want to make very clear. Certified Reconditioned Vitamix blenders are NOT refurbished machines.
Refurbished implies that the machines were broken, Vitamix repaired them, and then is reselling them. Vitamix does not do that.
The difference between a certified Vitamix reconditioned vs New is that Vitamix makes sure blenders go through a lengthy 17-point reconditioning process and certifies that performance is optimal with no noticeable difference compared to a new blender.
These are machines that were returned to Vitamix for any number of reasons (ex. – buyer’s remorse, got two as a gift, etc).
They cannot be then sold as new.
So they put them through a 17-point inspection and anything that potentially could have touched food is replaced with brand new items:
- container
- tamper
- lid
They have a slightly lower warranty, but are still designed to run well past their warranty.
I have a refurbished Vitamix 5200 blender which you see in my older Vitamix videos from when I started Blender Babes 10+ years ago, and it still runs great! The warranty was just 5 years on it.
*Please note you will still see me call these machines "refurbished Vitamix" rather than reconditioned in this review - it's only to help people just like you find this. However please note that these are certified reconditioned Vitamix blenders not a used Vitamix that has been refurbished.
Prior to my first Vitamix purchase back in 2012, I didn't know then that my refurbished Vitamix 5200 blender was not potentially a well-used or broken blender that Vitamix fixed!

This Vitamix 5200 Standard features a powerful 2 HP motor, variable 10-speed dial, a high/low and on/off switch.
Although it does not have a separate pulse switch, you can achieve a pulse by flipping the on/off switch to equal a pulse.
It comes with the tall 64 oz container which can blend small, medium and large batches thanks to its narrow 3 inch base, therefore you probably will not need to purchase an additional container for smaller portions.
This blender stands 20.5 inches tall with the jar affixed tot he base, so it won’t fit under most kitchen cabinets (which are 18 inches from cabinet to counter). It's also a little harder to clean by hand in the sink due to the height and more narrow base. Additionally, it requires the tamper more often to move ingredients around more than the low profile 64 oz container.
