HEALTH BENEFITSย OF OATS
The health benefits of oats are countless. Oats are a health benefit rich superfood!
Millions of healthy Americans enjoy the health benefits of oats in steaming bowls of all natural rolled oats for breakfast, but they may not realize it’s not just delicious, all natural healthy oats are one of the best breakfasts you can possibly eat.
Oats are a great source of vitamins and minerals, including magnesium, selenium, manganese and phosphorous.
Oats are also a good source of vitamin B1, dietary fiber and protein, so it’s the ideal food to start the day with.
Researchers also found that diets rich in fiber from whole grains like oats offer significant protection against breast cancer for pre-menopausal women — a 52 percent lower risk of breast cancer than women with low fiber diets.
Is this used as a 1:1 ratio compared to normal flours?
Hey Amanda! Yes it is if you are replacing all purpose flour. ๐
Thanks!
We like to cook in our bathing suits! We've transitioned into active wear – however we will always have a special place in our hearts for bikinis!! ๐
Can this be a substitute for all-purpose flour? Or is it meant to be used in place of something else? I have several friends with Celiac disease, and buying the gluten-free all-purpose flour substitutes can get pricey.
Yes Andrew, this is absolutely a substitute for all purpose flour, and less expensive than buying gluten free flour. Your friends must love you! Welcome to Blender Babes! ๐ xo
Could you use arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch (trying to avoid GMOs)?
Great question Lindsey, we have never tried with arrowroot. We did find this article that was helpful. If you try it let us know how it turns out and we will update the recipe for others who have the same concern ๐
Ive made my own with tapioca flower, arrowroot and grass fed gelatin – all are good subs for cornstarch
Yes we recently used arrowroot powder as well. Will update the post. THANKS EVERYONE!! ๐
I do not have a Blendtec or a Vitamix, can I use my regular blender to make this recipe?
Hi Sarah, that’s a great question. Regular blenders typically are between 350-700 watts and do not have the power to grind grains (the rice) into flour. Blendtec & Vitamix are commercial grade blenders and have enough power (1100-1560 watts!) to do this. If you have a more powerful than average regular blender (check the wattage), it MAY be able to handle grinding up the rolled oats, however use caution as we do not want you to break your blender! You could then purchase rice flour, so that might be something to try to still make gluten free baking mix. ๐
