Vejo Reviews 2024: Pod Based Nutrition On The Go

We all need our daily dose of nutrients. There are lots of drive-throughs around every block, but most of them are for fast foods. Christopher Bertch, however, wanted us to enjoy our daily nutrients in the form of a smoothie/shake on the go and so, he introduced us to the portable pod-based blender, Vejo.

What is Vejo?

Vejo is a small, portable (and chargeable!) smart blender.

But there is so much more that the Vejo offers.

Vejo uses pods, much like your favorite coffee pods, to deliver a nutrient-rich drink in seconds. These pods include organic fruits, veggies, greens or proteins for smoothies, but they also have lattes and other blends designed for pre and post-workout to better sleep.

These pods are biodegradable, which is a VERY important factor for me. Plus, the company aims to make water-soluble pods at some point, which is even better for the environment. 

You can use Vejo pretty much anywhere. All you have to do is add water or your favorite milk substitute or milk (Please Note: I don't recommend cow's milk), insert a pod, and seal the lid. You can have your fresh smoothie in 30 seconds.

What Comes in The Box?

To get started with Vejo, you will order a “Starter Kit” which typically comes with 1 Vejo blender + 8 blends. You can choose the color of the Vejo blender which blends such as “Bestsellers” “Wellness” or “Family Favorites” to name a few. They do have specials sometimes as well which will come with more blends, or deals if you purchase a subscription. 

The box was a bit heavy and the packaging felt really fancy and premium. Now, on to the good part. Once you open the box you will find several thighs inside. Exciting!

• The large box has the portable blender in the color you choose which has a nice texture (more on that later) 
• One box has the different flavored pods you chose for your starter pack.
• One box with cleaner pods
• One Vejo cleaner brush
• Vejo charging pod
• Vejo charging cord 

The portable charger is actually inside the blender. You will find it once you open the lid which is an interesting surprise. 

I got the bestsellers starter pack with 4 different types of smoothie blends which are Banana Almond, Piña Greens, Tart Berry, and Clean Greens. I got a black Vejo blender.

How does It Work?

I found the Vejo to be very easy to operate. Once you take it out of the box, you will first have to charge it for a minimum of 2 hours. Have to admit that those two hours seemed to go by so slowly since I wanted to use it straight away!

As for charging, you have to put the lid of the Vejo on top of its portable charger, plug in the Vejo charging cord and plug it into an outlet. Take it out after 2 hours and start mixing.

Steps for using the Vejo blender:

1. Pour cold water or your favorite milk substitute up to the fill line (which is about 8 ounces)
2. Place the pod into the lid
3. Peel off the pod
4. Turn it upside down, and put it into the base. 
5. To close the Vejo twist the lid clockwise and it will make a small clicking sound to let you know it is locked. 
6. There is a light on top of the Vejo that will turn green and the blender starts working. 
7. All it takes is 30 seconds to finish. 
8. Once you are done, you take out the pod and dispose of it since they are completely biodegradable.
9. And voila! Your refreshing drink is ready to be served or you can just drink it straight from the Vejo blender.

What You Can Blend in Vejo?

You can choose from over 20 different types of blends. 

They offer a bit of everything. Smoothies of course, but also straight protein (from one of my favorite healthy product companies EarthBar so you KNOW it’s good!), collagen, pre and post-workout blends, cold brew coffees, matcha to even something called “sleep blends” which as the name suggests, helps you sleep better by relaxing the body and mind.

The pods range in calories from 70-100. You can find all the nutritional information about each blend and their ingredients on the website, app, and on the manual given to you.

Now, of course, I haven’t personally tried all the blends YET. But I did try the ones I got in my starter kit such as the Piña Green. It is a mix of pineapple, banana, mango, and spinach. I loved being able to have a serving of veggies and fruit that tastes great when I’m either a) on the go or b) don’t have anything fresh at home.

The experiment part is fun. The manual mostly says to use cold water but I prefer to use a milk substitute for added nutrition and calories.

Price

How much does Vejo cost?

I always like to get price out of the way first because it’s usually what’s on everyone’s mind.

The Vejo pod-based blender is high quality and high-tech - this naturally increases the price. 

Most of the different types of “Starter Kits” are $130 (USA) and you will get everything you need including the blender, 8 Vejo pods, charger and cleaning brush.

You can also purchase individual types of pods in either 8 or 30 packs. The individual pods packs can cost anywhere from $2.50 to $4.

Vejo has a monthly pod subscription plan that offers up to 10% off the 8 or 30 pack price plus free pods and free shipping for every order.

Note: Once you have tried the different pods and have zero’d in on your favorites, I think it’s worth getting the subscription for the additional savings plus free shipping.

Features

There are tons of portable blenders out there but none are like the Vejo and here are some of its cool features.

An app for the blender

The app can be connected to your blender to get some real-time information like keeping track of percentage charged, number of blends consumed and ordering new ones as well.

Sensory LED light

The LED light on top of the lid is a nice touch to it. That little LED blinks red when it is charging and green when it is ready for use. 

The Vejo actually lets you know when it is ready for blending. When you open it up, you will find that both the lid and the base have 3 metal contacts on the inside. 

When you put on the lid and twist to seal it, these metals come in contact, send a signal that the blender is sealed properly, and start blending. With a full charge, you can easily run about 30 blends.

Insulated Base

Although it is recommended to consume the drink right away after blending, the base can keep it cold for a little while.

Design

It looks like the people at Vejo really designed this product with “portability” in mind. It's small, easy to carry, looks like a cool water flask and you can take it anywhere with you.

The blender has a nice, grippy texture and has some bright colors to choose from. It is after all a blender and I liked that they kept it simple.

It looks small but actually feels pretty robust. The blender has two parts. One being the lid and another one is the base that has the blades.

Noise

Blenders are usually pretty loud because of the power required to break down ingredients.

This is another nice factor to really like the Vejo. It makes a very low noise compared to any other blender since it’s really just mixing liquid with powder. 

You will feel that the Vejo is active cause it will be vibrating. It is similar to the vibration your phone makes when on top of a desk.

This minimum noise helps you blend quietly and does not create a distraction at all. It will vibrate for about 30 seconds and will turn off automatically.

What I Loved About Vejo

The Vejo actually surprised me with a lot of unique features. I already mentioned how I like the slipless texture of the blender.

The size feels perfect. Not too small that you won’t get a sufficient drink and not too large that it will be a problem to bring with you. It can easily be carried around in your beach bag, backpack, or suitcase and have your daily dose of nutrients on the go.

I also loved the fact that you don’t have to charge it often. You can get 30 blends out of it when it is fully charged and this is really helpful for busy people (like me!) who sometimes even forget to charge their own phones.

What stood out to most is the biodegradable pods. It really gives you a message that Vejo cares about the good health of people and the environment. They also plan on launching water-soluble pods soon.

From the looks, the operations to the high-tech features, I must say, I was much more impressed by this little device that I thought I would be. 

The fact that Vejo uses high quality wellness ingredients including organic fruits and vegetables makes me love them even more. 

I plan on trying each of the amazing blends!

Is There Any Downside?

One thing I read about but haven’t had happened yet, is that the powder sometimes solidifies and does not blend. 

Vejo has stated this to be due to the biodegradable compositions of the pods. Some of them cause the ingredients to solidify.

If that is the case, you can always go for another blend.

Another complaint I’ve heard (but again haven’t experienced yet) is that the blends sometimes take time to mix and go down to the base or simply do not mix at all.

What you can do is before inserting the pod, give it a nice little shake. This helps loosen up the ingredients and makes a better blend.

While these are not particular deal breakers, these are a few issues to be aware of.

The price of the Vejo is high compared to other portable blenders. However this is a much higher quality portable blender than any of the ones that I have tested.

How to Properly Clean Vejo Blender

You have to keep a few things in mind while cleaning it. First, do not put it in a dishwasher to clean, and second, do not submerge in water. 

You can even find it in the instruction manual that it says “Hand wash only”

If you take a look inside the lid you will find a black button. Push it and it will turn a light on inside the lid that lets you see some of the circuits inside the lid. This shows you exactly why it cannot be submerged.

To clean the base, you can first pour lukewarm water in it and keep it for five minutes, then use a drop of dish soap, and clean it with the cleaning brush included in the package. As for the lid, just wipe it down with a wet rag or tissue.

Warranty & Refund Policy

The Vejo like every other company has some ground rules on what is covered and what is not included.

Things Vejo Warranty Covers

Vejo comes with a warranty of one-year free service from the date of the purchase for any kind of malfunction or defects. If any sort of defect is found then the customer only has to show proof of purchase & the receipt. The customer will then be shipped a new Vejo that may be brand new or reconditioned. This new one also comes with a one year warranty

Things Vejo Warranty Does Not Cover

The Vejo warranty doesn't cover any malfunction resulting due to the use of non-viejo pods. It also does not cover any incidental or consequential damages or any scratch, discoloration, and damage on the internal and external parts. The warranty only covers the functionality of the product that has been damaged by default.

The Refund Policy

Vejo has a refund policy of 30 days. It starts from the delivery date. Dispensed pods can not be exchanged or returned. And the customer has to pay the shipping charges for the return.

VEJO FAQs 

 1. Is Vejo as powerful as a kitchen blender?

The Vejo has a powerful motor but it is not as powerful as a standard kitchen blender. It is recommended only to use the given pods and blends.

2.  Can I use ice in the blender?

The blender is designed to mix only powder and liquid. Ice would be way too hard for the blades to break down and it is absolutely not recommended.

3. Can you re-blend the already inserted ingredient?

You will have to take out the pod, reposition it, and then seal the lid again. It can then be re-blended.

4. What is the shelf-life of the pods?

The Vejo pods remain shelf stable for 6 months. Be sure to store the pods in a cool, dark place, minimizing exposure to moisture and heat. Vejo recommends keeping the pods in the packaging they are delivered in or a Ziploc bag to ensure freshness.

5. Can you bring the Vejo on a plane?

Yes! The Vejo blender is TSA friendly, so you can toss your device and a couple of pods in your carry on.

6. Where does the name “Vejo” come from?

The name is pronounced “VAY-oh!” Vejo is derived from the Latin Vejovis or Vejove, the Roman god of Healing. To the company, Vejo means providing the fuel that one needs to be at their peak health and performance.

Final Thoughts

The Vejo is not the one-stop solution for all your blending needs. However it certainly makes prioritizing your health and well-being a little bit easier.

If you are at home, have fresh ingredients and a blender, you can’t beat real food. Ever.
