Vitamix Stainless Steel Container Review
Iโm Tarashaun, founder of Blender Babes, and in this Vitamix Stainless Steel Container Review I want to talk in depth about this jar option and also do a quick demo for you (in the video above).
10 years ago when I was doing blending demonstrations all over California, one of the questions I got asked at every roadshow was "is Vitamix going to make a glass or stainless steel container?" because they didn't want to use a plastic jar, even though it's BPA-free.
So, I was pretty excited when Vitamix launched their stainless steel container.
finally got a chance to play with it so in this Vitamix stainless steel container review I share 8 benefits of this jar... and also make a curried carrot soup (recipe below) that's from The Blender Cleanse.
Before I get into everything you need to know about the stainless steel container, recently Vitamix launched a new pairing so you can get the Vitamix A3500 with the stainless steel container INSTEAD of with the low-profile 64-oz container that it typically comes with.
I want to be very clear that this is NOT a bundle โ you DO NOT get both jars!
Itโs just an option currently to get the A3500 in black stainless, which is a premium finish, with the stainless steel jar.
We will talk about why that might be a good choice for you and your lifestyle, but you may just want to get the Vitamix stainless steel container as an extra container to have and we will discuss why in this review.

Vitamix Stainless Steel Container โ Features
This Vitamix stainless steel container serves as an alternative to Vitamix's classic BPA-free plastic containers.
Some of its features are quite different while it still has some things in common with the classics. Let's have a look!
Handle
The handle of the Vitamix stainless steel container has a thoughtful ergonomic design. It is slightly thicker right where it fits in your palm and your fingers wrap around it.
The design makes it more comfortable to hold and gives you a firm, secure grip on the container even when itโs full.
Lid
The clear, BPA-free Tritan plastic lid lets you see inside the blender so you can keep an eye on your ingredients as your recipe comes together.
It seals the Vitamix stainless steel container quite well so you wonโt have to fear messes if the food in the container splashes about vigorously as you blend.
No-Drip Spout
The no-drip spout of the Vitamix Stainless Steel Container really is no-drip!
It lets you pour with confidence and without the risk of messing up your countertop as you transfer food from the blender to another container.
Blades
The 3-inch blades are made of hardened stainless steel.
They give you the same great blending results youโve come to expect from other Vitamix containers.
Tamper
The low-profile tamper that comes with the Vitamix Stainless Steel Container is not stainless steel like the blades.
And, while it is quite convenient to have, you may be surprised that you use it less than you might use a tamper with another blender.
Thatโs because the design of this container is conducive to food sliding down into the blades without much assistance.
Volume Markings
The measurement markings inside the Vitamix Stainless Steel Container are laser etched onto the material.
No ink or other substance is used in the process - just the laser and the high heat at which is it used to create the markings. So, the markings and the container are actually the same material.
Top 8 Benefits of the Vitamix Stainless Steel Container
Altogether, the features we just looked at help to give this Vitamix Stainless Steel Container some advantages over others.
Letโs deep dive into eight of them!
1. Itโs lightweight and not plastic
People have been requesting that Vitamix make a glass or stainless container for as long as Vitamix has been using a standard BPA Tritan plastic container โ with the main reason being many people are wanting to use less plastic.
At the making of the review video you'll find in this article, Vitamix engineers did not feel a glass container would be safe and easy to use at the same time because the weight of having a glass container would just be too heavy.
So, the Vitamix Stainless Steel Container is the solution for customers who do not want to use plastic.
2. It works with ALL of Vitamixโs full-sized blenders
The stainless steel container fits on ALL Vitamix full-sized blenders โ that includes all the Legacy, Classic, and Explorian Series, as well as the Smart System blenders.
So, even if you currently own an older Vitamix model, you have the option of using the stainless steel container โ which is awesome โ especially since new products made by Vitamix now usually only work with Smart System blenders.
3. Itโs durable against wear and tear
The Vitamix Stainless Steel Container is non-reactive, as well as odor, stain, and scratch RESISTANT! Itโs NOT 100% scratch-proof but doesnโt smell or get etched and stained as easily as the plastic containers when you blend certain things.
For example, turmeric and curry and grinding certain things like coffee beans or cinnamon sticks are NOTORIOUS for staining and leaving an odor in their plastic jars. This is usually because of the natural oils that come out and tend to linger in those types of containers.
4. It retains its visual appeal
Because you can clean any staining and itโs harder to scratch it, the stainless steel container will look pretty for a much longer period of time.
Doesnโt it look great on the A3500 featured in the video?!
5. It has markings on the inside for measuring
Unlike the plastic jars which use clear measurement markings that are hard to see, the Vitamix Stainless Steel Container has black, laser etched markings on the inside so you can measure how much youโre putting into the jar.
Remember, the markings are NOT ink and wonโt come off in your food, the markings are made with a laser. And, the clear lid lets you see them easily inside the jar too!
6. It blends both small and medium-sized batches
The stainless steel container is 48 ounces. It has a 3-inch blade and a 1-cup minimum yield. What that means is, it can blend small and medium-sized batches.
That can be important for people who do not want to have to purchase additional containers to blend small batches which you usually have to do when a Vitamix comes standard with a 64-oz low-profile container.
7. It can blend both cold and hot liquids
This container can blend really cold and hot liquids. It does hold the cold and heat more than the plastic container but they even have a little warning sign here that shows to be more careful with hot liquids.
And, to help with this, thereโs a thin plastic strip on the outside next to the handle which protects your knuckles from heat or cold.
8. It goes in the dishwasher
Last but not least โ this container is dishwasher safe, which is always a plus.
Vitamix Stainless Steel Container Demonstration
In the video, I demonstrate blending curry powder in the stainless steel container.
I blend a delicious recipe that is featured in my simple 7-Day Blender Cleanse program that my community just LOVES!

This soup was created by a Michelin star chef so I really hope you enjoy it!
These ingredients are for making a 2-cup serving in each container but feel free to double the recipe.
Curried Carrot and Coconut Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
2.5 cups of carrots, peeled and chopped or sliced
1/2 large yellow or white onion, sliced
2 garlic cloves
1.5 tablespoons curry powder
1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 lime
1 tablespoon coconut oil
3/4 cup low-fat coconut milk OR 1 can coconut milk (do not use canned coconut milk not during cleanse)
water or low sodium vegetable stock
salt and pepper
1/8 cup fresh cilantro leaves
Instructions:
For Vitamix and power blenders that heat: Blend from low to high for 6 minutes OR use the soup setting until steaming.
For regular blenders: chop ingredients into small pieces and blend from low to high until pureed. Then pour into sauce pan and heat to desired temperature.
I canโt tell you how many times Iโve made this in my plastic container and even if I washed it immediately it would have a light yellow tint to it and still smelled like curry.
Also, I do a typical wash with just soap and water, blending and rinsing. What's really great is ALL of the oils wash out of this Vitamix Stainless Steel Container.
Nothing's being left behind for your next blend, which is really nice.
I wish you guys could smell the container after I washed it! All the curry odor that would've been left in there is gone. It's pretty amazing.
So, whether youโre new to Vitamix and might be interested in the new Vitamix Ascent A3500 pairing that comes standard with a stainless steel jar OR you want to use this Vitamix stainless steel jar with an older Vitamix you already have โ I highly recommend this container.
